![]() “Journey” contains a variety of colour tones and a selection of images which are rendered in sepia tone. ![]() When compared with “Journey” Becker seems to have adopted a more lack-lustre approach to his artwork. This doesn’t seem to suit the more delicate colour rendering in watercolour, ink and pencil. The illustrations themselves, although colourful and eye-catching enough, seem to be rendered in a very simplistic manner which relies on heavy, dark outlines for the main characters. The illustrations are clear and contain all the elements that the story requires. If you consider this book in isolation it is effective in its manner of storytelling. It follows the tale of the little girl and her friend from the first book “Journey” and their continuing adventures. Like his first book the illustrations tell the full story with the need for the inclusion of text. ![]() This is a picture storybook aimed at children over the age of five. ![]()
